Learn how to sew somewhat.

I'm tired. That's it for now folks.

Day 12: What I believe

I believe in Christ.
Day 11: Favorite T.V. Shows

Currently and in no particular order, except for the fact that I have only been recently watching the first two on the list quite a bit......

Criminal Minds
How I Met your Mother
Ghost Whisperer
Law & Order: SVU
House
Grey's Anatomy
Day 10: Something you are afraid of...

Wasps, Bees, anything that stings. I swear they like to follow me around in the warmer months when they are out and about. Lucy and Ethan probably think I'm crazy when I go all out and sprint when I see one on our walks.

Day 9: Friends

My BFF! Daphne and I have been Best Friends since middle school, or Be Fri's, as we like to call each other (ya know- the first half of the best friend heart necklace). We're totally different in personality, ran around in different circles in high school. Went to different colleges and haven't lived in the same state since I graduated from A&M. We were each other's Maid of Honor in our weddings! No matter where we are and how long it's been since we've seen each other last, we always pick up where we left off. We tell each other everything and laugh out loud together. I love my Daphne!

Here's another pic of us, we recently went to Holland together!

This is Liana, we are friends from when I lived in Portland, Oregon. She lived below Joe's apartment and that's how we met, in passing one day and went to the movies with a group of friends. She was my closest friend in Portland. There was a period of time where we would literally hang out every weekend together. She's my "girl's night girl"! She lives in Cali now, and I'm hoping to see her sometime soon.

This is Jen. Jen is my friend. :o) We were college roommates at A&M. We lived in a fourplex and funny enough, my brother was our neighbor. She's my pen pal. We like snail mail. We've kept in touch through the years. She even came to visit me in Portland. I'm excited to be moving back to Texas so we can meet up more often than we have in the past. Especially now that she has a cute baby to see.

Work Friends

Everyone needs friends at work. Sometimes that's the only thing that can keep you going to work. ha! This pic is of my friend Luz. We worked at FergusonWellman together in Portland.
This pic is of my friends from my days at Southside Animal Hospital. Tracey, Gwen, and Carlena! Tracey is the sweetest and easy going person you'll ever meet. Gwen and Carlena were so hard to figure out in the beginning. ha! Gwen was probably my first friend in Nashville, we both lived in the same apartment community and got to know each other better by hanging out after work, then she fell in love with a military man and left me for El Paso. Over time I got to know Carlena really well and her eccentric personality. ha! I love spending time with her and will miss her dearly and our t.v. time together, watching '16 and Pregnant'.
I don't have a picture of the following friends. Katie and Sue. My mommy friends, we would have play dates together with our baby boys. I met Katie at a Bradley Birth class and hung out several times after her baby was born and then a month later, mine. I love hanging out with Katie, she makes me laugh. She moved away from me for NY. grrrr- but at least Joe and I will have someone to visit when we make our way up there. I met Sue through my husband and her husband. They went to Belmont together. We had dinner a few times and then life got busy. I found her on facebook and discovered she had had a baby boy about 5 months before me and we reconnected. It was about the time Katie moved and I was thankful to have another women in my life with a baby to hang out with. Sue also makes me laugh and I enjoy my time when we hang out with our little boys in tow. But the most important thing about Sue is.... she can cook. I love food and I love her food. My food is like scrap and her's is like gourmet. I shall miss her cooking. Of course, she'll be moving soon, but I'm sure we'll connect sometime down the road.

Day 8:Places I've traveled

Oh the places I've been. While I haven't traveled the world twice over, I've definately traveled alot within the U.S. at least, and some out of the country.

Growing up my family took camping vacations all along the west and up into Canada even. I've been to Mexico twice, once in college for study abroad and then for my honeymoon with Joe.

Last year when I was 20 weeks or so pregnant, I went to Holland with my Best Friend, her 11 month old daughter and her Mom. That was really fun and surprisingly, I did fine being pregnant, even went bike riding alot.

Some places I'd love to go to next, Austrailia, Italy and although I've already been, I want to take Joe to the Grand Canyon.
Day 7: Favorite Movie

While You Were Sleeping

10 Months Old!!

10 months old and growing up fast! I'm so cute in these overalls. ;o)Standing and cruising, but not walking yet. I have 6 teeth and probably working on more. I love laughing at Lucy, she's my friend. When I crawl, I usually have something in both of my hands. I'm getting more hair, although- I'm not sure you can tell from the pictures. ha!

Day 6: Happiness is....

laughing with my husband. He makes me laugh, he laughs with me, he laughs at me! I enjoy laughing and laughing out loud. It makes me happy!

(Doxies and cute babies also make me happy. Good thing I have one of each.)

Day 5: Sibling.

My brother, Mike, a.k.a....Michael. I'm his senior by a little over 14 months. Growing up, he liked the time between my birthday and his, because then it meant he was catching up to me. Ha! Now, I think he likes the time after his birthday and before mine, because then it seems as if we are two years apart, and I guess he likes having the lower age number.

We fought like cats and dogs growing up (think of an Ultimate Fighting match- ha! I'm serious- I have stories), but once I graduated and left for school, we got closer. We were even neighbors for one year in college. It was great. Now that Joe and I are moving back to Texas, I'm looking forward to being able to develop our sibling relationship as adults.

Having a brother is the best!
Day 4: My parents

Here's my mom and dad. This was taken a while back, b/c my hair is not that short anymore. My mom is a housewife, you can watch her on Channel 5, The Housewives of Keller, TX. (ha, totally kidding about that)
My Dad is a Resevoir Engineer for an Oil Company in Texas.
They've been married for 34 years, High School Sweethearts! (i think 34yrs- and if I'm wrong I'll update this post later.) They met in Italy where they went to high school as military brats. They have 3 motorcycles and have ridden all 3 on some kind of a road trip. They have been very supportive of me in life and I love spending time with them when I can.

Now that I have a son, I've enjoyed watching my parent's as grandparent's. It's neat to see how they interact with him, and to imagine what it was like when I was a baby.
Day 3: Your First Love

Well it could have totally been Parker Hamilton, who asked me out at a basketball game my 9th grade year at Bixby High. Not to mention, I didn't know who he was when he asked me out and I said yes, then had doubts and broke up with him a day or so later. ha!

I guess you could say my first love, er "puppy love" was with my high school sweetheart, Kenny. We dated for a bit in 8th grade, even went to the eight grade dance together, then I moved and when I moved back we started dating again. We pretty much dated all through high school.

Alas, we broke up.... it wasn't meant to be, plus we were going our seperate ways, different colleges. (where I met my true love, Joe)

sorry this post is a little late

Day 2: Meaning behind your blog name

Hmmmm, well currently the name is Bonafede Ormonts. No reason to name this other than this is our name. Bonafede is the orginal last name and Ormont is the new last name. Joe's grandfather changed his last name from Bonafede to Ormont.

Day 1: Introduce, recent picture, 15 interesting facts

Following Jen's 30 day blog challenge that she got from another blog.

Howdy! I'm Kathy, I'm 29 soon to be 30! Married to my handsome husband Joe and I'm a stay-at-home mom to my precious son, Ethan, who is ~10 months old. I'm having so much fun with him. I'm a Christian and enjoy expositional preaching/teaching. And... I'm a proud member of the Texas Aggie Class of 2003!! Whoop!

this isn't the best pic, sorry

15 Facts
1. I used to drive a bus in college. I enjoyed this job and sometimes miss it. Sometimes.
2. I've never colored or highlighted my hair. I had always said, I would wait till I was 30 before I colored my hair, but now that I'm approaching 30 and don't really have much gray to color, I'm not sure I want to deal with the upkeep of coloring hair. I've also pondered the "going all gray" look.
3. I have a habit of biting my nails. It's bad, I need to quit. Do they have a patch for that?
4. I'd like to say I'm an avid runner, but alas, I am not. However, I like to sign up for the occasional 5k. Heck, I recently ran in the Nashville Women's half Marathon and was pleasantly surprised with my finish time. I'm thinking of signing up for another.
5. Up until recently, I was one of the only people I knew who was still driving their first car from high school. Just purchased a Nissan Rogue and paid cash for it and am so proud of that.
6. I wear glasses when I drive.
7. I'm half an inch taller than my husband, even though he won't admit it. ;o)
8. I was born in Lubbock, TX
9. I have one sibling, my bro... we are a little over 14 months apart.
10. I love dachshunds (doxies) and have one, her name is Lucy! I grew up with them and couldn't wait to get my own, once I was out of college.
11. I worked at Walt Disney World for a semester, during college. I worked in Animal Kingdom
12. I've been BFF's with Daphne since middle school. We remain close through all the years and miles between us.
13. I love food, which is why I need to keep running. ;o)
14. I'm shy at first, but once I get to know you and have let you into my circle, I'm loud and sometimes crazy. I'm sure my husband thinks I'm goofy.
15. hmmmmm......I'm stubborn and sometimes do things my way.

9 Months and counting....

I'm 9 months old now and I've got 4 teeth, with two more coming in on the top. I can stand all by myself for roughly 10 seconds at a time. I like to walk while holding onto the couch or some other sturdy object. I like legos, thanks Mommy and Daddy. I love to swing at the playground. Not much of a talker, I like to sit and ponder the things around me. I'm a happy guy!

Butternut Squash...

Where have you been all my life? I mean, yeah, I think I may have tasted a soup or two in the past. But recently I've been inspired by my friend Sue and her awesome cooking skillz! She recently made a side dish, Butternut Squash with Shallots and Sage and it looked fairly easy and got rave reviews, so I thought I would find my "inner-Sue" and try to re-create some yummy! It was sooo good! I had some leftover squash that I had chopped but didn't use for the dish, so I made butternut squash soup for the next day, which, was also scrumptious. Here's a link to the post, if you want to try her recipe. Well the recipe was from epicurious, but she made some tweaks and so you'll have to read her blog for those.

Photo Credit: This photo is from Sue's blog, since I didn't take a pic of my side dish.

Playing with newspaper ads and Lucy's food bowl is so much fun! I especially like it when mommy forgets to take up Lucy's water bowl and then I can splishy splashy in the corner.

The Nightmare on Our Street

Happy Halloween and Happy Fall Ya'll!! This story begins a few days ago. Joe comes home with a cold on Thursday. Ethan's nose had been running, clear mucus and no fever. Wasn't too worried, we were going to the Dr. on Friday for Ethan's 9 month check up anyway.

The Dr. didn't seem to think much of it when I asked, although I think he may have got sidetracked and never really answered me. But since, he didn't have a fever and there was no concern from the Dr. no big deal. Joe still feeling run down. Thankfully I feel fine. Hoping that Joe feels better on Saturday morning and that Ethan's running nose is cured by the vaporizer I bought for his room. We had wonderful lunch plans with some friends of ours, Jeff and Sue, and their little boy Finn.

Saturday morning arrives and Joe wakes up with a sore throat. Yikes! Ethan is covered in dried gunky snot and is all stuffed up. Poor guy. He didn't like me trying to get all those dried boogies off. Joe goes to one of those little clinic's and gets a strep test. He has strep. Ordered to stay away from baby for at least 24 hours, so he can get the meds in his system. So, Saturday was spent taking care of Joe and making sure Ethan got the snot sucked out of him so he could breathe better.

(weekends Joe helps out alot with Ethan, so Saturday was very tiring since Joe was pretty much locked away in our room.)

Then we were planning to go to M'boro for Trick or Treating with my cousins, but.... I felt a little off when we woke up Sunday morning. My throat was sore, but not strep throat sore. I think I'm having some trouble with my allergies, giving me some sinus problems. By mid-day- I'm feeling a little worn out. So after Ethan's nap we decided we'd go out to eat and then go to the grocery store to pick up a few items.

Here's where the nightmare begins....Joe takes Ethan while I'm taking lucy out. Joe gets Ethan buckled in, then gets the trash (we have to haul our trash to the dumpster). I'm getting Lucy back in and grabbing my stuff to head out and lock the front door. When I'm greeted by my husband who asks a question he already knows the answer to. "do we have a spare key to the car?" um no, why?, I reply. Joe nervously states, "I gave Ethan the keys, and he locked himself in the car." By now, I'm starting to slightly panic and thinking in my head and then out loud, why did you give him the keys!!!!

Then to myself, I have an argument at Joe, just not with him... I told you never to give Ethan the keys, a. they are dirty and all he wants to do is chew on them. b. he could poke his eye out c. he has his own play keys and d. we only have one set of keys and he could lock himself in and us out.

Joe meanwhile, is calling AAA to see if they can get someone to come out and rescue baby from car, in turn rescue mom from going insane. I come out to the car, and look at Ethan, who's happily playing with the keys and I start bawling. My poor baby, is locked in the car, he's going to be hungry soon, it's time for his dinner, how long are we going to have to wait for someone to show up or for Ethan to bite the unlock button, when he's not even holding that key anymore.

I run inside trying not to get mad at my husband, it's not his fault, right. This happens all the time. I call my Tia (aunt in espanol) and bawling to her on the phone when she anwers. I don't want her to think someone has died. So through my tears, I tell her it's nothing big, just me being an over reactive mom who was hungry, tired and not feeling well, but had to calm down.

My sweet Tia, listened to me describe in detail my "halloween nightmare" and then prayed with me over the phone. I knew everything would be alright, I just needed to calm down and talking with her helped. I told her I would call once I knew what was going on.

So I walked outside and calmly asked Joe what was up, he said the police were going to be dispatched to help us. Then I looked at Ethan and lo and behold, he had the car key in his hand. I was like, oh Ethan, don't press that panic button. That's all we need to bring attention to our ordeal. ha! I was hoping that he would bite the unlock button so we didn't have to wait for however long it would take. Then he put the key in his mouth and started chewing, so Joe had his hand on the front door handle ready for the unlock, should Ethan actually bite down on the right button and moments later, to my delight, Ethan bit down and unlocked the door. Amen!

We called AAA and had them cancel the request. Then we got in the car and headed out to do what we started to.

Later Joe told me, that when he realized Ethan had locked himself in the car- he wasn't worried about Ethan, he knew we would get him out. Joe was worried what his wife was going to do to him, once he told her what happened. Ha- I laughed and was glad that everything turned out okay, even for Joe. ;o)

At the Pumpkin Patch

Last weekend we did an improptu stop at a local pumpkin patch. Had to take some quick photos of Ethan with the pumpkins. We want to go to another local pumpkin patch and check it out, maybe take a family fall photo. Next week is Ethan's 9 month appointment. Can't wait to see how much he weighs and how long he is.

That's all folks!

Scootin' past 31!

We were in Fairhope, AL for my brother's wedding this past weekend. Joe's 31st birthday happened to be the day before. So during the day, my family decided to spend it doing something fun. Joe picked riding scooters and everyone was game. My Dad, Mom, Grandpa, and my Mom's friend, Kelly all went with Joe on Scooters. My Grandma and I hung out at the pier and around downtown Fairhope with Ethan while the gang rode around.

8 Months Old

My baby is 8 months old, and yes I know it's not October 5th and even my blog ticker says he's 2 days younger than 8 months old. ha, well he was born on a Friday so I'm celebrating based on the 4 weeks= 1 month.

He's wearing the Houston Astro's outfit that my parent's got him. I just found it today and now they live in Dallas. ha!

I Save Earthworms, Lucy Eats them!

The other day when it wasn't so warm out, I ended up walking with Ethan and Lucy 3 times in one day before Joe got home. (we usually do a walk with Daddy to get the mail)

That particular day it seemed to me that there were a large amount of earthworms crawling across the trail path in our neighborhood. Knowing that these little guys are just too slow for their own good, and didn't want all of them to get crispy in the heat of the sun, I decided that I would save a few. I threw them into the grass, not sure if that was saving them, but at least they wouldn't get burnt on the pavement.

Yesterday when I took Ethan and Lucy on a walk, we saw many crispy earthworms and to Lucy's delight she munched on several during our stroll. I suppose they aren't harmful to her, perhaps some extra protein she may feel she's lacking in her current diet. A little more meaty than when she eats those large pesky mosquitos that make it into our home some nights. (which come to think of, hasn't happened in a while)

That's all, no pictures of the muncher.

The other day I went into Ethan's room and found this!

I guess now he's trying to climb on stuff, gotta keep an ever increasingly more watchful eye on him. He's sooo cute! Love him.
