35 weeks and 3 days preggo

Posted by Picasa

So I have exactly one month till my due date of January 25th!!! Will he come early, probably not, will he come on time, probably not, will he come late- perhaps? But I'm hoping not too many days late. Today Joe gave me the best gift ever, our baby's first name. Which of course was the name I really like and want. But unfortunately I can't reveal it until his arrival. Shouldn't be too long now. I can't believe I've got anywhere from 4 to 6 weeks left of pregnancy, unless he comes early. Keep ya posted!

Close up of the window valance.

View of the window valance.

Inside look of the bumper.

Here is a pic of the bedding we purchased at Babies R Us this past weekend. Lucy liked it.

Below is a pic of the dresser/changing table unit.

We got some wall decals that match the bedding, but haven't put it up yet. Will post when I do.

Back from Bradley

So tonight we practiced giving birth. Definitely interesting and I think probably more helpful for the dads to know what to expect.

Well just a quick post to say hello world and we're looking forward to bringing baby Joey into the world.

oh my the baby boy is getting larger in my tummy, but I feel as though my tummy is not expanding to allow for enough room. Plus he's moving alot.

Baby Crib

Joe picked up our crib from Babies R Us today after church. He used the versatile Saturn SC2 coupe as his uhaul of choice. ha! The Honda was insufficient for crib transportation, it barely fit the crib mattress we took home last night. Anyway, here's a pic of the crib put together with the mattress inside. I put a crib sheet on it, so it wouldn't look so bare. We haven't bought any nursery bedding yet.

Cribs, Changing Tables, and Mattresses... oh my!

Had to work this morning, then ate some grilled cheese, then Joe and I headed out to Baby Depot to check out their crib selection. I had a lady look at me and say, "you're having a girl" and I was like nope, a boy. I don't know what about how I'm carrying baby joey looks like I'm carrying a girl. ha!

Anyway, we then went to CarMax after Baby Depot to look at a 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe with third row seating. Joe said it was too much money, so alas... the car search continues. Then we headed to Babies R Us after a quick snack at Panera.

I think we were trying to decided between 3 different sets of cribs/dressers before we finally picked one that we liked and had a good price. Joe was savy and brought a 20% off coupon that he saw on one of the packagaes I had received as a gift in the mail from my registry.

Then when we were checking out the sales lady that helped us order the crib and dresser came up to the register and gave us coupons for each item, so we essentially saved over $160 total on the crib, the dresser/changing table unit, and the crib mattress. Thank you to Brenda the sales lady at Babies R Us. Saving money like that is always a good thing. I'm happy about our purchases today. Even though I didn't get a car.

30 weeks Pregnant

This was taken at my baby shower today. Officially I'll be 30 weeks on Monday, but it's so close. Will post more pics later.

Thursday I went to Focused Imaging to do a 3D ultrasound. Baby Ormont wasn't cooperating very well, so these are the best shots we could get. He's so cute. Wish we could've gotten better shots. However, we definately got a good gender shot. It was funny, the radiologist said, "if there was ever a doubt of him being a boy, there isn't now. wow, we never see babies with their legs that open." ha! way to go boy!

This was definately a good gender shot, when we went at 19 weeks, it was hard to tell from my point of view, not the ultrasound lady's view obviously, since she was right.

Going to my Texas baby shower tonight, I'll try to post pics today or when I get back to Nashville.

Packer Procrastinator

I'm bad at packing. I'm always doing it last minute. I'm maybe 1/4th of the way done for packing for tomorrow. I need to pack Lucy's bag too, she's going to be staying at my aunt's house for the weekend.

Anyway--

Cloth Diapers

So Joe and I are going to try our hand at cloth diapering our little baby boy, for more reasons than one. But one of those reasons is because we want to. ha! And it will be cheaper in the long run with additional children.

I'm thinking of using a combination of brands that I've reviewed. I'm thinking of using some gDiapers, a hybrid diaper. I think having the gRefills(disposable) will be good for on the go and and out and about trips and the gCloth inserts for at home to save money.

Another brand I really am excited about are the bumGenius all in one cloth diapers. These are the easiest to put on and take off and are more like a disposable in that aspect. It also has pocket in the back to insert an additional liner for overnight.

I may try a few fuzzi bunz, which is also an all in one diaper, but with snaps.

And for newborn use, I may just try prefolds and the prorap cover that has a lower cut for until the umbilical cord falls off and/or the mio bambino prefold system.

I'll definately get a roll of flushable liners to use with the any of the cloth diapers (won't need that for the gDiaper's disposable insert).

Grandma and Grandpa aren't too excited, but they said they'll have their own supply of disposable diapers on hand. However, I think they'll probably change a few of the cloth diapers for their grandbaby, especially if it's the easy all in one with velcro and if it's just a wet diaper. ;o)

Monday is pretty much over. TOday I worked from 7:15 - 6:00, made lunch at lunch and also dinner at lunch. Came home at 6 and ate some spaghetti and then headed out to BSF. Tonight we went through John 5.

My back is pretty sore. Wonder if that's from an increasing belly? Anyway, I'm super happy that I get off at 4pm tomorrow, plus it's my first baby shower of the week.

Can't think of anything else to write. lata

Sunday, November 08, 2009

darn- I was having so much fun on saturday, I forgot to post to my blog. oh well.

Just got back from home fellowship group. Small attendance tonight, but still good to see everyone. Tuesday night is my shower hosted by home fellowship group and church. I'm excited. It should be fun. I guess I'll have to post a belly pic from the shower then.

Joe is going to san antonio this weekend. I'm going to Houston this weekend. Lucy goes to my aunt's house. Wish I could bring her with, but $150 is a little much right now.

still trying to decide on a vehicle.

My Glider

Tonight Joe and I put together the glider. I thought it was going to be more difficult than it was, but it was super easy. It's very nice and I enjoyed rocking in it. Can't wait till the baby gets here. We have it in our room, because it won't fit in the baby's room with a crib, twin bed, and a dresser/changing table.

Me again! oh posting everyday for 30 days.... not sure if I can make it. ha!

anyway today I got a package in the mail. It's a glider from my registry!!!!! yay! Thanks to the ladies who are hosting my Texas baby shower. I can't wait to set it up. Hoping to put it together tomorrow night or on saturday.

going to take lucy to work with me tomorrow. Her right eye seems to be bothering her. It's hard to tell, but it looks a little red where it should be white and she has some white gunk coming out of the corner of her eye. Poor thing. I hope she doesn't wake up to crusty eye in the morning. :o(

That's the nice thing about working at a vet hospital. I can just bring her to work with me. ah till next time.

Wednesday, November 04, 2009

Got to sleep in a little this morning. I like getting to go in 30 minutes later on wednesdays when I have to work wednesdays. Went to Babies-r-us and Wal-mart today. Got some shopping done. Then came home just in time to eat and head over to church for AWANA. I'm so tired now. I close tomorrow and FridaY and I work on Saturday morning.

We may go test drive some more cars on saturday. We test drove two last Saturday. The Nissan ROgue and the Hyundai Santa Fe. If I had lots of money I would buy me a new Toyota Highlander Hybrid with 3rd row seating to accomodate up to 7 passengers.

I think baby boy is getting bigger, but my belly is not. Or at least that's what it feels like right now.

Lookie, 3rd post in a row. I might actually be able to blog every day.

Today we had our 4th Bradley Birth Class tonight. We practiced some breathing and pushing techniques. Very helpful. We had to leave early, so we missed the video. bummer. Joe's got alot work he has to finish. Next week class is cancelled, but that's ok because I'll be going to my first baby shower. I can't wait to see all the cute baby stuff I'll be showered with.

I only work till noon tomorrow, so I'm hoping I can get around to taking a picture of me and my belly of 28 weeks. That's it for now, until tomorrow.

Monday, November 02, 2009

Well since I randomly posted yesterday, I figured that I can try and post for 30 days for the National Blog POsting Month.

Today went to work. Not exciting. Tonight I'm going to my BSF class. I skipped last week, so now I'm two weeks behind. I'm really trying to spend time in the word on a daily basis, but it's sooo hard. I know there are things that I put in my life that I should take out, or just put time in the word first before I do things, like sit on my butt watching t.v. or talking on the phone, or facebook, or blogging.

Maybe I just need to get up early to get my time in. I'll try to get a pic of my belly. I'm 28 weeks today.

We tried to find a pumpkin the same size as my belly. I'm thinking maybe the one we picked out is bigger than my belly.

We just bought a Chicco stroller and car seat yesterday. It's gently used, shhh, don't tell anyone. We got it got for $150 (thank's mom and dad), instead of $300 brand new. The couple we got it from, their son only used it for like 6 months. It's practically new. Now I just need to save up for a jogging stroller, so I can get back into shape after the baby is born. Those suckers are expensive.

Anyway, we had fun playing with the stroller and car seat last night. I'll post a pic of Lucy, she approved of the basket below the stroller. Hopped right in, it was funny.

So I'm having a baby. I'm having it naturally, unless there are some unforseen medical complications. I think I've always said, I was going to give birth naturally for as long as I can remember. At first when I was young, my sole reason to go natual was to avoid the 20 foot long needle they stick in your back for the epidural. (i know it's not that big, but I despise needles) I hate needles so much, that I managed to go 28 years of my life without ever having my blood taken. ha! And the first time I had to do it, I felt nauseous and got all hot and sweaty and dizzy, they had to lie me on the floor, prop my feet up, and fan me with patient charts. Thankfully, I've been able to have my blood taken multiple times since being pregnant and haven't been so dramatic about it.

To prepare for this natural childbirth Joe and I have signed up for the Bradley Method Birth classes, also known as the husband coached birth. I'm glad the class is 12 weeks long, and so is JOe. I think he wishes they'd stop showing videos in class. We've done two classes now, and I'm learning so much.

I sometimes feel like I have to withold this info about going naturally, b/c people react to it with shock. I mean when other women tell me they are going to have an epidural or a c-section, I don't get shocked and say, honey you should really do that naturally. I believe it's every woman's right to decided what their birth plan is, but I also think you shouldn't go into labor and delivery without any knowledge and let the doctors make decisions that could impact your health or the baby's health unless it is truly necessary.

I think too many women have heard horror stories about birthing and just opt for a "pain free birth" (epidural- there are risks with having an epidural that might not show up till after the birth that every women should know about before making that choice).

Maybe this is why when I tell a young 23 year old hygienist that I have a midwife and she asks, what does a midwife do, and I tell her that the midwife is in place of the obgyn and that most women are trying for a natural birth. I hear the dentist tell the hygienist, yes, you heard her right, she said natural. THe hygienist then looks at me with shock, so no pain meds, no epidural, nothing???? I say, yup. She says I'll be praying for ya.

I'll take all the prayers I can get for sure. I just wish young women and all women, for that matter, out there knew more than just one way of birth.
26 weeks pregnant and a Lucy. Neither of us look excited in this pic.

[another late post] May 27, 2009

So I'm pregnant, although I guess I knew that 2 days ago via the home pregnancy tests. Went to the doctor this morning to pee in a cup and a few minutes later I got the results! According to the due date calculators that I've done online, the baby is due on or around January 31, 2009.
[another late post] May 26, 2009

So of course I couldn't really sleep last night. I woke up at 4:30am and tried to go back to sleep. Got up at 5am and decided to take my second $1 test and the digital read out test. The $1 test had 2 lines, so it was positive and the digital test said "pregnant". So maybe I really am pregnant. hmmm, I set up a Doctor's appointment for tomorrow monrning to confirm my pregnancy with the Doctor.

More to come...
[Sorry, it took me a while to post this. Enjoy!] May 25, 2009

This Memorial Day weekend Joe and I went to Chattanooga, TN for a quick get away trip. The whole weekend I had been wondering if I might be pregnant. Was a little crampy here and there, it would come and go and it didn't bother me much, just made me wonder. So I decided to stop by the Dollar store on the way back home and pick up two $1 pregnancy tests. I have a fancy electronic read out pregnancy test at home that my Aunt's sister-in-law gave me, since she had it left over and wasn't in need of it anymore. But for today I wanted to first use the $1 test and see what the results were.

Once I started the test and began to see a faint second line appear, I was starting to hope that I was really seeing what I was seeing. Joe happened to walk in the bathroom and was looking at the test box to determine what was going on with the test on the counter, and he was like, uh, you might be pregnant. I was like, I know. The test came out positive so I was very happy, but decided I am going to take the second $1 test and the fancy pregnancy test tomorrow moring. If both of those are pregnant then I think I'll go to my doctor's office on wednesday to do a blood test. We'll see, I'm hoping there is a little blessing in store for us. More to come soon.

You can barely see the second line in this picture. I'm using our old camera, I broke our nicer one at Joe's graduation dinner.
