MERRY WHAT???
MERRY CHRISTMAS!!!

The Month before Christmas!
'Twas the month before ChristmasWhen all through our land,
Not a Christian was prayingNor taking a stand.
See the PC Police had taken away,The reason for Christmas -- No one could say.
The children were told by their schools not to sing,
About Shepherds and Wise Men and Angels and things.
It might hurt people's feelings, the teachers would sayDecember 25th is just a " Holiday .
"Yet the shoppers were ready with cash,
checks and creditPushing folks down to the floor just to get it!
CDs from Madonna, an X BOX, an I-podSomething was changing, something quite odd!
Retailers promoted Ramadan and KwanzaaIn hopes to sell books by Franken & Fonda.
As Targets were hanging their trees upside down
At Lowe's the word Christmas - was nowhere to be found.
At K-Mart and Staples and Penny's and Sears
You won't hear the word Christmas; it won't touch your ears.
Inclusive, sensitive, Di-ver-is-tyAre words that were used to intimidate me.
Now Daschle, Now Durbin, Now Sharpton, Wolf BlitzenOn Boxer, on Reed, on Kerry, on Clinton !At the top of the Senate, there arose such a clatterTo eliminate Jesus, in all public matter.
And we spoke not a word, as they took away our faith
Forbidden to speak of salvation and grace.
The true Gift of Christmas was exchanged and discarded
The reason for the season, stopped before it started.
So as you celebrate "Winter Break" under your "Dream Tree"
Sipping your Starbucks, listen to me.
Choose your words carefully, Choose what you say
Shout MERRY CHRISTMAS,
Not Happy Holiday!

Little Deer

I was working at a golf tournament that my company sponsors and while I was sitting in a golf cart, this momma deer and her two babies came casually walking on to the course and I couldn't believe they were so close to me.

Ready to run my 7.3 mile leg on Friday evening!

Beginning my first leg....

Halfway done with my first leg...

Ready for my second leg at 4:30am Saturday morning! Yes, this was after an hour of sleep in Portland and woke up at 1:15am to get to our next exchange!

Nice handoff! Here I go...
The relay baton, was a slap bracelet.

Ah, yes the honey buckets, always a long long line for these at every exchange point.

And I'm spent! Finishing my third leg in the middle of the day and in the heat. Hood to Coast is over for me, a total of 17.2 miles.

Downtown Girl

So, I recently accepted a new position with a capital management firm located in downtown Portland. This is my third week as Sales & Marketing Assistant for the company. One of the benefits of this job, is that they pay for my annual MAX pass. The Max is Portland's lightrail train. Sunset Transit Station is a mile up the street from where I live, so it's an easy commute. From there it takes about 15 minutes on Max to get to my office.

Anyway, when you ride the Max, you meet some interesting people and overhear interesting conversations. Like this morning for example, these two ladies were talking about jobs, which led to their dental plans, which somehow led to one lady talking about her ingrown toe-nail, (ew)! ha, anyway thought I would share.

More to come from downtown girl and the adventures of riding the MAX. Stay Tuned...

Peacock escapes Oregon Zoo!

So maybe it didn't escape from the zoo! Actually we don't know where it came from, but it is strange to come home one day after work and see a peacock just strolling around your backyard. Joe found it first and took this pic and some others. Lucy sure did want to chase after it.

This posting's for Jenn!
May your day at work be filled with less boredom.

Today Jenn I decided that upon marriage, the wife should be given the privilege of working part-time. Working part-time allows the wife more free time, thus becoming ulti-wife! Just think of all the things that ulti-wife can accomplish by not working full-time:
  • Plan Gourmet Meals for hubby
  • Excercise to stay healthy and attractive ;)
  • Sparkling Home, more time to clean
  • Save $$ on doggy daycare, (When Mom's home, puppies are given needed attention)
  • And many other undiscovered uses of time

*Obviously, coming up with ideas of why it would be so much better to work part time and not full time is due to bordeom-itis! But hey, I like the idea. ;)

    Introducing Joe and Kathy Ormont

This is our first blog as a married couple. We live in Portland, Oregon but were wed in Houston, Texas. We just got back from our Honeymoon in the Riveria Maya near Puerto Morelos, Mexico. It was a surprise, b/c I was under the impression that we were going to Costa Rica! Weather was great, scenery was great, we had a blast. I'll post some wedding pics later.
